We built a conceptual backbone around the values and defining moments of the Olympic movement, from the ancient Games to their revival in Athens in 1896 and through to the Games of today.
From three creative directions, one stood out: Myron's Discobolus, one of the most enduring representations of the athlete and the Olympic ideal.
Rather than simply depicting the statue, we looked at its form. The lines, curves and movement of the Discobolus became the raw material for a new symbol. We reduced and refined them into a minimal contemporary mark that carries something ancient within it without trying to recreate the past.
The result is distinctly Greek, but belongs to today. A symbol rooted in the origins of the Games and designed to sit naturally within the visual world of the international Olympic movement.
history was already there. Our job was to find the right line through it.
