Academias

Our material world of the brand (marble, brass, leather) as well as the guiding principle of pairing classical gravitas with contemporary restraint extended beyond brand identity. Our design cues directly influenced architectural choices and the selection of custom furniture pieces.

Having been tasked with a project that needed to feel unmistakably Athenian, our team started experimenting with the ideas the name "Academias Hotel" - which our team proposed and the client instantly approved - conjures: Plato’s Academy, the city's intellectual history, and a sense of timeless gravitas.

So the building had to confront antiquity in a way that feels right for its street and its city. This effect became evident in the details: a custom logotype, a restrained palette of dark green, warm grey, black and gold, and a set of cues that are more cultural than decorative. Those would be elements such as philosophers’ quotes, the owl, and the “A” monogram, all a direct reference to the Academy's origins.
